Lynn, MA – May 23, 2019 — All Care VNA & Hospice has been issued a three-year accreditation for its Adult Foster Care (AFC) Program by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF International). Accreditation by definition is an ongoing process that distinguishes a provider’s service delivery, earning this certification signals to the public that All Care is committed to excellence through continuous performance evaluation and improvement.

Adult Foster Care Programs allow individuals, unable to remain at home alone due to chronic illness, or physical and/or mental disabilities, to stay at home, or in the home of a loved one, in order to maximize the best quality of life. An alternative to nursing home or assisted living placement, in-home family caregivers provide meals, companionship, personal care assistance, and 24-hour supervision to program participants. Caregivers receive a tax-free stipend which can help to ease the financial burden of caring for the individual. As an AFC agency, All Care oversees the foster care process through monthly nursing and social work visits where both client and caregiver receive the support and resources needed to share a safe, happy, fulfilling life.
All Care’s Adult Foster Care Program launched in November 2015. Since then, ninety-one clients have been admitted, and the current client census stands at fifty-two. Michele Metzler, MSW, LICSW heads the program and is confident this alternative to care outside the home will soon be the standard healthcare solution for families and caregivers who face tough decisions. “I am proud to play a role in keeping people ‘at home’ where the best outcomes for quality of care are realized.”
All Care’s President and CEO Shawn Potter is delighted, “I am so pleased we have received this accreditation, recognizing All Care’s excellence in practice, and our steadfast commitment to clients and families.
